First Steps
      Epilogue

"Hmmm figures," mumbled Jeff, as he looked around the system they had just entered. The system was pretty large, and not to their surprise, was most human populated, with a few Anthros.
"So, where we heading?" asked Ki’ace, as she stood close to Jeff.
"There," said Jeff, nodding his head towards the tall building in the center of the city.
"You're going to attack the Principal Office?" she said softly.
"No, not all of it," he said calmly. He looked at Ki’ace. "Now's the time to leave, since it's here where I live or die. This is where I find the truth."
"Jeff.. you are so full of it. You think they are going to let you into the P.O. with all that weaponry?"
"Never seen 'The Matrix' have you?" He grinned, as he walked off towards the Principal Office.

"Three guards," he said softly, as he looked around the lobby. "Two cannons, one laser grid. Not going to do it the way I wanted."
"And that way was?" asked Ki’ace.
"Bloody," was his reply. Jeff sat down on one of the row of benches that were located next to the marble wall.
"Jeff...why are we here. It’s not any type of military base," said Ki’ace, who was now feeling that she was on a wild goose chase.
"I remember this place. There is a lab here. I know it."
"Jeff, I don’t know what you are on, but-" she began, noticing the guards looking at them. "Jeff. Company," she said, as the guards walked towards them. She looked back at Jeff who was standing, his hands behind his back.
"Excuse me,sir, would you come with us please?" asked the human guard. Jeff removed his hands from behind his back and aimed two guns at the guards.
"No," he said simply. The guns rattled off with full automatic fire, the guards flying back, hitting the ground, blood spattering over the floor.
"Weapons fire detected in lobby. Security system: online" sounded the computer voice, as the doors locked down.
"Down on the floor, now!" boomed out a voice from across the room
Jef turned and fired at the guards coming out from the door which lead into the main complex of the P.O.
Ki’ace at this time had fled from the fight and was now hiding underneath the guard desk. She was useless in a fire fight, and she knew it would help Jeff if she hid.
Emptying the clips into the guards, Jeff dove for the duffel bag and turned over the bench for some protection as he pulled out two pistols. Standing up and firing gangster-style at the guards, he watched them fly back from the blast, but he soon ducking from return fire. He was pinned now and decided that if this was his fate to die here, he would do it grandly.
Releasing the hot clips from the pistol, he slammed in two fresh ones and jumped over the overturned bench and ran towards the advancing troops. He fired at the ones furthest away, and they dropped like lead weights. The guard closest to him was dealt with by a round house kick to the head, snapping his neck like a twig. The one advancing on him was dealt with by a shot to the head.
Two guards stepped out from there hiding spots and fired into nothingness. "Where’d here go?" asked one.
"Right here," came a voice from behind them, then bang, the guard closest to him hit the ground, and Jeff kicked the gun away from the remaining guard.
Grabbing the guard by the neck and lifting it into the air, it’s helmet fell off, showing that it was a human woman. "Please, don’t make me a victim...I have a family."
" Victim? Aren't we all?" he replied and placed the gun to her temple. She closed her eyes awaiting death, but instead she fell and hit the ground hard. "Open the door and you live," he said. Jeff had a total look of anger on his face, one that he had never used.
She quickly got up and entered the code to the door, it sliding open.
" Run...very quickly," he told her, and she did. "Ki’ace! Get into the system and unlock the doors."
Jeff started to enter the main complex of the P.O when a vid-window opened. "001, how happy to see you again. Looking pissed I see... Well anyways," he began.
"Enough. Answers, now! Or I give you a new hole."
" My, my such talk. Come to my office, and we will...talk this over." The Window snapped shut.

Twenty minutes later, and eight dead guards, Jeff arrived at the head office. As he entered, he looked around. Large room, nothing much other than a carpet that lead to a redwood desk, with a chair that was turned away from him.
It turned slowly, and Jeff shook his head, not believing what he saw. "What are you doing here, Commander?"
The Commander of the police in the system which Messiah HQ was located looked back at him. The woman sprite that had been a pain in his side for as long as he could remember sat there grinning at him. "Surprised? A simple masking program in a vid-window, and I had you thinking I was some powerful human that was out to rule the net. Please, 001, I thought you knew better than that. Too bad the human govornment shut down the project. I liked playing the human in charge... Oh well," she said.
Jeff aimed the gun at her, and fired, it hitting the top edge of the chair, blowing it off, letting stuffing fly into the air.
"Please, I thought you were a good guy," she said with a smile.
"Good? Bad? I'm the guy with the Gun!" he said as he walked closer.
She stood up and walked around the desk, sliding off her overcoat, which gave way to a very revealing purple outfit. "Put that toy away 001, and fight me like the hybrid you are."
"History repeating itself," he replied, as he tossed the weapon away.
She took up her fighting stance and attacked him, punching and kicking him with break neck speed, which thanks to his programming he was able to block. He grabbed her arm and flipped her over onto her back, slamming onto her throat with his foot, her hands around his ankle trying to push him off. He pulled his trusty pistol from it's holster behind his back and aimed it at her. "I read my history and I don’t care to repeat it’s mistake."
" How long will you last without the O.R.S? You remember that," she said, trying to bargain for her life.
"Doesn’t matter," he replied and checked his aim. "Game over. User wins."
            Bang

Jeff and Ki’ace stood on the docks, Ki’ace handing him a data pad. "Figured you could use this info I found. It’s a long trip to System Kliness," she said.
"Thanks Ki’ace. I’ll be back at the village in no time. But there are some people that deserve some answers. I figure I owe them that..."
She smiled and then hugged him tightly. "Take care of yourself, Jeff, or...whoever you are," she said, almost crying.
"I will. Take care of Ki'eva," he said. She let go and he smiled, removing his glasses and letting her see his green eyes for the first time. He walked up the ramp to his transport and was led to his seat.

" Yes? " Asked a woman as she opened her door slightly, the security chain only letting it open a crack. "Samantha Pestova?" asked Jeff as he adjusted his glasses.
"Yes..." she said, a little scared.
Jeff removed his glasses and let her look at his green eyes. She shook her head. "Manny...but your- no..."
"No Samantha, I’m not. I think we need to talk."
She closed the door and unlocked the chain. "What is are song?" she questioned, wanting proof.
"November Rain," He said softly. She wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. "Like I said.. we need to talk." The End. Jeff Freeman will be back in. " The Calling"
